Haunting, especially the aerial shots at end.

Fun night of booty shaking with Berlin’s beautiful young things, then walking home through the silent dawn mist.
Feel like a new person today: so good to be reminded of catharsis on the dance floor.

Thanks to Katrina James for this photo of my Oudezijds Voorburgwal 147 series hanging in ReTramp Gallery Berlin for the exhibition Reisen durch das Objektiv, February 2013.

Even more surreal after the Russian meteorite storm, only a couple of days after this clip was released.

Some photos I took this week for World Radio Day Berlin at SUPERMARKT.

Amazing footage of meteor shower in Eastern Russia.

My Valentine goes out to all my amazing, talented, creative, intelligent, thoughtful, insightful, hilarious and gorgeous single friends. I love you all!

“In an era where we’re all permanently face down in a sea of information, whoever can help us sort through it and discover what matters to us holds power … the battle for our attention is only going to increase, and it’s one that for perhaps the very first time could really allow the substantive to shine alongside the sensational.” – The Quietus

There seems to be a current trend in Berlin of expensive workshops, seminars and talks on how to make money in the arts, with some of the hosts offering fairly questionable qualifications and content. A community service by business-savy organisers or exploitation of naive and/or desperate creatives? Hmm..

Freedom Graffiti – Syrian artist Tammam Azzam

“The future? Digital, yes. Creative services, yes. Independent artists, yes. And across them comes a new role that has caught the attention of education providers. Highly flexible, highly versatile, enterprising and entrepreneurial, it’s the creative producer – the person who draws the dots between the creative workers and stakeholders of all stripes, resources and at the end of the chain, audiences or consumers.” – Arts Hub

My friend and mentor Louise Page has terminal cancer. Read her humble and inspiring story to remember what’s important in life, to appreciate what you have while you have it, and to keep a sense of humour.

“I guess I’m no different from anyone else really. We’re all heading for a terminal (sorry to remind you of that but it is the one thing we all have in common for sure). And none of us know our exact departure time. So I’m just going to sit here and hope for long delays because of volcanic ash or baggage handler strikes, or snow. Good job I live in the UK really as those are all very likely to happen.” – Louise Page

“I want to celebrate the day of romance with a Valentine that honors the many kinds of love that are in the offing – if we are flexible and creative enough to make them work, and if, in the end, we are open to possibility.” – Judith Newtown, Huffington Post

“Berlin’s heroic ability to openly admit and psychoanalyse its horrific recent history is no doubt one facet fueling the city’s dynamic and bold creative scene..”
Leisa Tyler, Sydney Morning Herald

New Forms Festival 2013. Vancouver Summer: The Sequel. It’s happening.

Looking into my crystal ball for 2013, I see creative adventures brewing across 4 continents… and this excites me [very much!]

Another of my photographs has been licensed for use by a record label, this one taken in a Kreuzberg warehouse in 2012. Stay tuned to see the final album artwork design.

Love this project: posting public art on unbooked advertising billboards in Berlin’s U-Bahn stations. My favourite is Oliver Breitenstein’s Sparkasse bank statements which confused me for a good 5 mins while waiting for the U5 one night. Image: http://vorne-fahrn.de

Thankyou to the 100+ friends and supporters who came to the launch of our photography exhibition Reisen durch das Objektiv last Friday night. We heart you! Images from the Vernissage by the ever-talented Katrina James (including the image above) can be found hereReisen durch das Objektiv is showing at ReTramp until 10 Feb 2013.

Top notch programming at transmediale – festival for art and digital culture berlin‘s Back When Pluto Was a Planet [BWPWAP] this year. I enjoyed the Sonia Landy Sheridan archive, Memoblast fax performance, Telekommunisten’s Octo installation and Mike ‘Pluto-killer’ Brown’s talk last night. Congrats tm 2013 team and good luck for the days ahead!

Nice video-trailer from CITY iLIKE on the 3-day event Illuminations of Wedding at SUPERMARKT Berlin last week, curated by Kristin Trethewey and I.

My thoughts are with Australia as it faces the true wrath of Mother Nature: drought, bush fires, floods and tropical cyclones simultaneously…
